We are one of Germany's major vocational training institutions and comprise: 36 branches nation-wide (represented in all the federal states), 300 vocational training centres, approx. 70,000 participants per year, 2.5 million participants have enrolled since bfw's foundation in 1953. A staff of around 2,000 employees (vocational trainers, teachers, social teachers, structural and qualifying advisers, administrators) work for us and our subsidiaries.

We and our vocational training centres are firmly established in the regions. Regional labour markets, as well as present and future requirements of the enterprises, are being continuously analysed, thus providing the basis for training schemes that are tailor-made for both target groups and enterprises. The major business fields are: vocational training, organisation and staff development advice in connection with training schemes, combined employment measures and training schemes and initial vocational training.

Our schemes are aimed at the following target groups: employees, intending to undergo further education, employees threatened by unemployment, the unemployed and men/women returning to work, young people, soldiers, prisoners, enterprises, public administrations and other institutions, works councils. Furthermore the Federal Labour Office, enterprises, administrations, works councillors, staff councils, European Commission, ministries and private persons are among our clients.

We are involved in many European projects in all its business fields. This enables us to continuously test and develop new approaches to vocational training and to integrate them in our training scope.

We are a private consulting company and have started our activities in 1968, in Vicenza. We are specialized on research, training and consulting, particularly focusing on the Transfer of Businesses from one generation to the next or to a third part. Our main “Business Transfer” activities are: increasing of awareness, surveys, trainers training, junior/senior training, system actions, private consulting. On this subject, in 1997 a special handbook was written and translated into 5 languages. This tool is known as kit.brunello (http://www.kit.brunello.net)/ and has also been officially acknowledged as a best practice by the European Union. Therefore we have a lot of experience with business transfer, SMEs and international projects and our company works at European, national, regional and local level in system actions that join public and private bodies.
